Photo Release
This page explains what a Photo Release is, why we ask for one, and what rights you grant when you sign it. The release is a separate document signed before any of your images are published.
What is a Photo Release?
A Photo Release is a written agreement in which the photographed subject (or, for minors, the parent or legal guardian) consents to the use of their image by the photographer for specific purposes. Under Saudi law and our Privacy Policy, your photographs are personal data and we will not publish them — anywhere — without your express written consent.
Your default position
No release, no publication. If you do not sign a release, your photographs are delivered to you privately and never appear on this website, on the Studio's social channels, in exhibitions, in pitch decks, or in marketing material. You are under no obligation to sign.
Sample Photo Release
1. Parties
This Release is made between Shaima Alattas Photography Studio ("the Studio") and the Subject named at the foot of this document ("the Subject"). Where the Subject is a minor under 18, this Release is signed by the Subject's parent or legal guardian on the Subject's behalf.
2. Grant of rights
The Subject grants the Studio a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, display, publish, and distribute the photographs created during the session identified below (the "Photographs") for the following purposes:
- The Studio's portfolio, including the website shaimaalattas.com and any successor sites;
- The Studio's social media channels and digital marketing;
- Exhibitions, awards submissions, and published editorial features about the Studio's work;
- Pitch materials presented in confidence to prospective clients.
3. Limitations
- The Photographs may not be used in any manner that is defamatory, sexually explicit, politically partisan, or that misrepresents the Subject.
- The Photographs may not be licensed to third parties for their own commercial use, sold as stock imagery, or used in advertising for any third-party product, without a separate written agreement signed by the Subject.
- The Studio will use the Photographs with editorial restraint consistent with the Studio's brand.
4. No compensation
The Subject acknowledges that the rights granted in this Release are part of the commission and that no additional compensation is due for the Studio's use of the Photographs as described above.
5. Withdrawal of consent
The Subject may withdraw consent at any time by writing to Support@shaimaalattas.com. On receipt, the Studio will remove the Photographs from its website and social channels within thirty (30) working days. The Studio is not required to recall Photographs that have already been published in printed material or that are held by third parties in good faith — the Studio will simply not re-issue them.
6. Minors
Where the Subject is under 18 years of age, this Release is valid only when signed by the Subject's parent or legal guardian, who confirms they have the authority to grant the consent on the Subject's behalf.
7. Governing law
This Release is governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
8. Signatures
The Studio asks the Subject (and, where applicable, the parent/guardian) to sign and date a printed version of this Release. The signed original is retained in the Studio's records; a copy is sent to the Subject for their records.
